Our Treatments & Process
Chinese medicine originated more than 2,000 years ago. A functional conception of health, the body’s energy, is conducted through channels woven in our anatomy. Disruptions to this flow can lead to illness and disease. To help restore the body's balance, Chinese medicine employs a range of treatment modalities, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na massage, cupping, and gua sha.
Initial Assessment
Our first session starts with a conversation around the health concerns and symptoms you want to address, be them preventative or diagnostic. If Chinese Mecidine is appropriate, we typically we start treatment on the patient’s first visit. Each follow up session starts with a brief re-assessment of the patient’s symptoms and medical goals.
Acupuncture & Tui Na Massage, Gua Sha
The core practice revolves around acupuncture and Tui Na Massage. Using very thin needles, we target specific points on the body to engage body and mind responses allowing the body to re-balance.
Cupping
Cupping is a technique where specialized glass cups are suction applied to the patient’s body and moved to stimulate blood movement. We often, though not always, conclude acupuncture with cupping. It’s common, for example, among athletes who want to speed up the time needed to recuperate after intense exercise.
Does it hurt? No.
Herbal Chinese Medicine
Depending on the patient’s ailments, we recommend modifications to their diet and the addition of Chinese Herbs. Diet and herbal supplements can balance qi and help with digestion, inflammation, and sleep.
